Designer Lu Yilin's foray into various genres of art and design has birthed her distinctive style. Beginning her formal training in art at age 13, she received a scholarship to pursue her BA(Hons) Fine Art at the renowned Slade School of Fine Art, London. Before college, Lu worked as a graphic designer to expose herself to the workings of the industry. At Slade, she majored in media and experimented with conceptual text and video installations. During these college years, she had a hand in various stints that ranged from a printmaking residency in Venice, an internship at London Sotheby's to spontaneous art exhibitions with her peers around europe. It was in London where her interest in fashion first began to develop.

Upon her return to Singapore in 2004, Lu taught art for the next 6 years. Her experiences and deep interest in art and design culminated in a growing curiosity in fashion which led to the making of her first dress. In November 2008, she debuted her first collection, “Paperdoll” to great enthusiasm.

Self-taught as a fashion designer, Lu maintains a hands-on approach to her work and continues to experiment widely to this day.
